If your Ontario 313A exam date no longer works, start with the booking confirmation and contact Skilled Trades Ontario (STO) for rescheduling help. Its current exam scheduling instructions give a phone route for help; they do not state a universal rescheduling deadline or fee. This answers a booked candidate's process question, not a newly announced rule.
What should you check before contacting STO?
Locate your Authorization to Test Letter and booking confirmation. Record the trade, date, time and location shown, plus your STO ID. STO says email confirmation is the final booking step. If you need an accommodation, check its separate pre-booking process before choosing a replacement sitting.
STO's current scheduling page says candidates needing rescheduling help should call 647-847-3000 or, within Ontario, 1-855-299-0028. Ask STO to confirm the available date and any condition that applies to your own booking. Do not assume that cancelling an appointment yourself preserves a fee or automatically creates a new appointment.
Does a new appointment require a new rsexam.ca account?
STO says an activated rsexam.ca profile remains accessible to candidates who cancelled and rescheduled a previous Red Seal sitting. The username is tied to the email address STO has on file and is case sensitive. The account setup guide covers the first activation window; it is separate from changing the appointment itself.
After STO confirms the new booking, compare the trade, session, time, duration and session status in rsexam.ca with your current confirmation. STO asks candidates to call as soon as possible when those fields are missing or out of date. Check the confirmation to see whether your location uses the online exam; the appointment and the delivery-system login are distinct records.
Is moving an appointment the same as booking a rewrite?
No. A rewrite follows an unsuccessful exam attempt. STO says a candidate who did not pass must wait 30 days and pay the exam fee again before rescheduling. A date change for an exam you have not written is a different situation; STO's public page does not give a blanket fee or notice rule for it. See the rewrite checklist only if you have already received an unsuccessful result.
How should you use the extra time?
Reset your study planner to the confirmed date, then work from the standard used for current exams. On 2026-10-03, Red Seal still identifies the previous occupational standard as the current-exam basis; exams for its newer RSOS are under development. The 313A exam guide explains the current breakdown.
Use the five-question free sample as original, unofficial draft practice awaiting certified-mechanic review. It can reveal a concept to revisit; it cannot predict your exam result.
